How much does Hotico cost?
Coden is free to download and use. The base version includes the password generator with full customization (length, character types, presets) at no cost.

Coden Pro is an optional one-time purchase of $6.99 that unlocks bulk generation and menu bar quick access. No subscription, no recurring charges. The price unlocks Pro features forever, including all future updates.
Is there a free trial?
You don't need one — the base app is fully functional and free. You can use Coden indefinitely without paying anything. Coden Pro is a one-time upgrade if you need bulk generation or menu bar access.
What do I get with Coden Pro?
  • Bulk generation — create up to 500 passwords at once and export them
  • Menu bar quick access — generate a password from the macOS menu bar without opening the main window
  • All future Pro features as they're added
I bought Hotico on another Mac. Do I need to pay again?
No. Open Coden on the new Mac, go to Settings and choose "Restore Purchase". As long as you sign in with the same Apple ID, your purchase will be restored automatically.
Can I share my purchase with family?
Yes. Coden Pro supports Apple Family Sharing. Up to 6 family members can use your purchase at no extra cost.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds are handled by Apple, not by the developer. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com to request a refund within 14 days of purchase.
Getting started
How do I trigger the overlay?
Open Coden — the main window shows the generator with default settings. A strong password is generated automatically. Click the password to copy it, or hit the refresh icon to generate a new one.
Why does Hotico need Accessibility and Input Monitoring permissions?
Use the length slider in the main window. You can set anywhere from 4 to 64 characters. The default is 16, which is strong for most use cases.
How do I customize which characters are used?
Toggle the character class checkboxes:

  • A-Z — uppercase letters
  • a-z — lowercase letters
  • 0-9 — digits
  • !@# — special symbols
You can also enable "Avoid ambiguous characters" to exclude visually similar symbols like 0/O, 1/l/I.
How do I save a preset?
Configure your preferred settings (length, character classes), then click "Save preset" and give it a name. Switch between presets anytime from the dropdown.
How does bulk generation work? (Pro)
Open the BULK tab, choose how many passwords to generate (up to 500), and click Generate. You can copy them all to clipboard or export as a .txt / .csv file.
How do I use the menu bar quick access? (Pro)
After unlocking Pro, a Coden icon appears in the macOS menu bar (top-right). Click it to instantly generate a password using your last-used settings — no need to open the main window.
Privacy
Does Hotico collect my data?
No. Coden runs completely offline and does not send any data to the internet. No analytics, no telemetry, no servers.
Are generated passwords saved?
No. Coden does not store any passwords you generate. Once you copy a password and close the app, it's gone. Your password manager is the right place to store passwords — Coden is just the generator.
Where are my settings stored?
Locally on your device. Nothing is sent to the cloud. Your settings (presets, preferences) remain even after uninstalling and reinstalling, as long as macOS preserves the app data.
How are passwords generated?
Coden uses Apple's SecRandomCopyBytes — the system-level cryptographically secure random number generator built into macOS. The same primitive used by Keychain and Apple's own security frameworks.
